Projects
Asheville AAUW continues to be a state leader in education and equity for all women and girls. Branch projects encourage individual contributions to two scholarship funds for women:
- AAUW’s Educational Foundation awards fellowships for women’s post-graduate work in significant research fields at major universities in the U.S.;
- Asheville Branch’s GEM endowment fund awards scholarships to local women who qualify as nontraditional students, enabling them to attend local colleges.
To promote contributions to EF, the Live ‘n Learn program showcases special collections of members in their homes. To promote contributions to GEM, a community event is held in the spring for local scholarships.
3. WOMEN’S CONFIDENCE DAY project on April 5, 2008. This event is involved with New Choices and other programs at the YWCA. Women from these programs and other women from the community will be invited to attend a day of workshops and presentations on topics such as nutrition, money management, positive parenting tips, home safety, exercise, and more.
